About Jett Corrections Consulting, LLC

Steven Jett is the immediate Past-President of the National Juvenile Detention Association and has been a city councilman in his town of Greenleaf, Idaho since 2004. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University in 1980. He and his wife, Janalyn, were married in 1983 and have five children and five grandchildren.

He started his career in law enforcement with the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office in 1988. He served in the Adult Detention Center as corporal and also as a member of the CCSO Swat Team. He has been the administrator of the 90 bed Southwest Idaho Juvenile Detention Center since March 1, 1993. He served on the Executive Board of the Idaho Association of County Juvenile Justice Administrators continually from 1992 until 2011. In the late ‘90’s, he co-chaired the committee which rewrote the Idaho Standards for Secure Juvenile Detention Centers and worked with the Juvenile Training Council to organize the Basic Juvenile Detention Officer Academy, where he still teaches Ethics, Juvenile Detention Standards, Juvenile Justice Overview and Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).

He has been involved with PREA since 2005, and has been the chair of the National Partnership for Juvenile Services’ PREA Review Project for approximately 5 years. Steve was one of the 45 individuals chosen by the U.S. Department of Justice to attend the first auditor training and became one of the first ten certified PREA Juvenile Facility Auditors in the nation.

Steve’s facility in Caldwell, Idaho was the first to undergo an actual PREA Audit under the juvenile standards in September, 2013, and the first facility of any type to be certified PREA Compliant on February 14, 2014.

In October of 2014, Steve was awarded the Hammergren/Dunlap Distinguished Service Award for Exemplary and Meritorious Service to Juvenile Justice and Detention Services from the National Partnership for Juvenile Services for his involvement with PREA.
